Dr. Jasper Frank Rawl Jr.

Dr. J. Frank Rawl of Fort Myers, passed away on June 11., 2008. Frank was a native
of Columbia, South Carolina, and moved to Fort Myers in 1960 to commence his
practice of Internal Medicine. Frank graduated from the University of South Carolina
and earned his medical degree from The Medical College of South Carolina in
Charleston, S.C., with honors. Following medical school, he completed an internship
at Philadelphia General Hospital and then served the Navy in Cuba and North Africa.
He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and became the 2nd
Internist to practice in Lee County with the group later known as Bryan, Rawl, Gore,
Butler, Agnew and O'Brien. He served as President of the Lee County Medical
Society and President of the Lee Memorial Medical Staff.Frank was an avid pilot,
boatsman, churchman and gentleman farmer, with a citrus grove in Alva. More
importantly, he was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 54
years, Carol, and their three children: Greg Rawl (Mary) of Fort Myers, Julie Rawl of
Park City, Utah, and Janet Rawl-Bourret (Jacques) of Houston, Texas. Additionally,
he is survived by his three grandsons: Gregory Rawl (Sloan), Stephen Rawl and
Christopher Rawl and one great granddaughter, Annabelle Rawl.
